Our homestay accommodation is a great way to get to know the locals and the Ghaleli people are well-known for their friendly nature.
Our villagers will welcome you, take care of you and treat you like a member of their extended family. To experience living and working with the community we recommend that you book a minimum of two or three days to truly enjoy the warm hospitality offered in this beautiful, unique location.
Homestay tourism is a community-based programme introduced by the Government of Nepal, where tourists can directly experience the day-to-day life of the community. The concept of homestay addresses the theme of eco-tourism in Nepal. The programme’s preliminary positive impact on women, local economy, environment, children and the community shows the effectiveness of the homestay approach. A growing number of locals are operating the homestay programme and this initiative preserves the rural lifestyle, culture and identity of these areas whilst simultaneously offering visitors an opportunity to experience local culture and take part in activities which they may not otherwise get the chance to.
In Ghalel, we have six homestay facilities available for bookings with up to four single beds in each. The stay includes:
Your own, or shared, room and bed
A lockable door
Traditional Ghaleli meals provided throughout the day
Toilets and washing amenities can generally be found in a separate out-building where your host will warm up water for you to use for washing or if you prefer a quick wash, your host can also bring a small bowl of hot water to your room. This is an authentic experience for those with an open mind and a willingness to experience something new!
